Hackl gave us a fresh new way to watch Saw and its traps. I enjoyed it more because of this. Even if there weren't sometimes not explored at their fully potential, it was really great and he could be proud of coming closer to the original traps from Saw 1 and 2.

I think that Hackl did a great job on directing. He brought some different elements to table. I loved his transition scenes (i.e. Strahm at Seth's trap and Strahm at Paul's trap). The movie was good, not my favorite though. I guess I was expecrting more ,especially with the tagline "You won't believe how it ends". The writing could've needed some work. I'd wish they'd bring Leigh back to finish what he and James started.
All in all the movie was good and Hackl did a great job at directing. I hope that Kevin is ready to step up to the plate.

No. Hackl did an alright job with Saw V, but I don't think that he got it.

I thought he was alright, you just have to keep in mind that every director has they're own style of filming.
James Wan-More story, little gore.
Darren Lynn Bousman-Lots of gore, less story.
David Hackl-More story and gore.

Let's hope those loose ends you speak of are tied up in part 6.

I dont think Hackl did anything we havent seen before, but he re-used a lot of techniques in a good way.
